Sanctuary of Hope
Guatemala is a country of rapidly declining natural resources and extreme poverty, resulting in abuse of resources, poaching & a steady illegal black market pet trade for profit.

DIG has an onsite Sanctuary of Hope that is devoted to the conservation, rehabilitation & protection of rescued abused and/or abandoned animals such as: dogs, cats, monkeys, foxes, raccoons, iguana, and parrots. The Sanctuary provides educational opportunities & focuses on reforestation and conservation of water and the protection of Guatemala’s natural resources and biodiversity.
The Sanctuary of Hope is one of the few legally registered & veterinary attended animal rescue facilities in Guatemala. It provides education opportunities for the people to learn & respect the delicate balance and harmony between man and nature as well as hosting bi-annual spay/neuter veterinary clinics with professionals from Canada and the USA to help combat disease caused by the immense stray population of dogs and cats.
